Health Benefits of Lambanog

Lambanog, is a type of palm wine consumed in West Africa. However, it is also widely consumed in South America, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In Guam fermented palm wine it is known as ‘tuba’, but it has little to do with the low toned instrument. Lamanog is the distilled version of palm wine and contains more alcohol than many other alcoholic beverages. It is said not to provide as bad a hangover, but this may be folklore. Any alcoholic drink can be damaging unless drunk in moderation. Lambanog is made naturally from a coconut bud’s sap. It is common among lower income peoples as the distillation process is relatively cheap. This doesn't mean it is of poor quality, and there are many potential health benefits of lambanog which oneHOWTO details here for you.

The author should have done a little bit if research on the subject matter of "Lambanog".

TUBA comes from the fresh sap of coconut flower and is also known as "toddy". The production of "Tuba" does not undergo any processing but it could be slightly fermented if not drank at once. Vinegar can be made out of "TUBA".

"Lambanog" is also from the sap of coconut flower but it undergoes a distillation process which is responsible for its high alcohol content

Hi Carlo,

The information in our article is correct according to our reliable sources, but you are right in that we haven't made a clear distinction between the Guam name for palm wine (‘tuba’) and the distilled variants. We have amended the article to make this clearer. Thanks for your input!

Re: 'lambabog"

I have not been to Guam but what "tuba" is in Guam is most probably the same"tuba" in the Philippines.

Thank you and am also happy that somebody (hopefully not a bot) responded to my comment
