Using Lavender Oil to Treat Minor Burns

Applying lavender oil is an age-old technique to treat minor burns. It contains 40% of linalyl acetate, and around 32% linalool, which are already known for their anesthetic and analgesic properties. It also contains around 5% beta-caryophyllene, which gives anti-inflammatory effects to the oil. 4% Terpinen-4-ol in serves as an anti-bacterial agent, thus making it an ideal essential oil for treating burns. Due to all these properties, some hospitals have also started using lavender oil for healing burns.

Frankincense Oil

Also known as olibanum, it is an essential oil commonly used in aromatherapy. It is widely used to reduce inflammation and pain, relieve anxiety and stress, boost immunity, and even fight cancer. It can be applied on minor burns to feel cool, and successfully heal them quickly.

Helichrysum Oil

This oil is known for its antispasmodic, anti-allergenic, anticoagulant, antiseptic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, fungicidal, emollient and diuretic properties. If applied quickly on a burn, it can prove to be successful in preventing hemorrhaging.

Melaleuca or Tea Tree Oil For Burns Treament

Also known as tea tree oil, it can be a wonderful remedy for treating less serious burns. Applying this oil on the burn immediately will not only soothe the area and relieve pain, but also keep it from catching infection. Believe it or not, even the most minor burn can become infected, and lead to extremely serious problems.

As soon as you get a burn, minor to moderate, wash it off in cold water, wipe it off, and apply any of these essential oils on the area. Keep applying it at least 3 times in a day, until the skin becomes perfectly normal. If you experience pain and swelling, you can apply the oil on a bandage, and fix it on the wound.
