I moved to Idaho from Texas. The first winter I developed gout. As a result of research (not the help from any local medical professionals) I decided to take 10,000 iu of vitamin D supplement. Within days my gout went away. After being off vitamin D for awhile, my gout came back. So again I started taking vitamin D and the gout went away. However, I also found that taking too much vitamin D can cause leg cramps.
