Stomach dilation, more commonly know as Twisted Stomach, Gastric Torsion or GDV, is a disease that is caused by an accumulation of gas and liquid within the stomach. There are various factors that also cause the accumulation of gases in the stomach. The most characteristic is the loss of normal digestive functions, other causes include nervous disorders that produce a paralysis of the muscles of the abdominal wall reducing their activity and mobility; or muscles of the stomach preventing food from leaving. Drinking lots of cold liquids during meals or having food incompatibilities are other causes of this disease. People with stomach dilation feel a heaviness in their stomach that can turn into severe stomach pain. It can also be accompanied by vomiting, which comes with the expulsion of liquid. The person will have dry lips and mouth, making them very thirsty. It can also be accompanied by low blood pressure, which leads to dizziness.

  • Bed or a place to lie.
  • Pillow or blankets to put under your feet to make them higher than the rest of your body.
  • Lemons.
  • Fruits.
  • Vegetables.
  • Wraps.
  • Bath or shower.
  • 20g of angelica.
  • 20g of gentian.

The first step in treating stomach dilation is to eliminate possible causes of this disease. So avoid soups and drinking during meals.

Next, wear a girdle to support the stomach and prevent it from moving around.

After finishing all of the various meals throughout the day, remain on your back with your body slightly tilted down in bed for about 20 minutes. Your feet should be about 20 cm higher than your head, so that you are slightly lying down with raised feet.

After 20 minutes on your back in the position described in the previous step, do breathing exercises and finish off with complete relaxation.

You should also exercise daily. The recommended type of exercise is to bend your torso. To do this, stand and bend your upper body forward as if to touch the ground with the tips of your fingers without bending the knees. Repeat this exercise for 10 minutes every morning.

Apply cold wraps across the waist for 10 minutes twice daily. After you apply the wraps, get wrapped up quickly to avoid getting sick.

To strengthen digestion and for an effective treatment, have a cup of tea after each meal.

To make this infusion, mix 20g angelica, 20g gentian, 20g fennel and 20g centaury. Use a tablespoon per cup of the resulting mixture and bring it to boil with water for 2 minutes.
