Steps to follow:

1

You must be specially careful with what you eat, as mouth germs turn some components into sugars and acids. These attack dentin, provoking tooth decay, or a dent in your tooth. This is the reason why you should follow a moderate diet when it comes to sugar colourings.

2

It's very important to have a good oral higene. You need to wash your teeth thoroughly after every meal with fluoridated toothpaste. You also need to use dental floss to get rid of all the bits off food.

If you can't brush your teeth after every meal, a good solution is to chew sugar-free gum. This way you'll stimulate the flow of saliva. This is good, as saliva neutralizes acid and helps remineralize dentin.

3

You should avoid frequent and/or daily consumption of acidic drinks and food. By acidic products we are referring to fruit juices and fizzy drinks.

4

Check if the water you're drinking contains fluoride and ask your dentist if there's a treatment rich in fluoride for your teeth.

5

When you eat, chew your food well so you avoid small pieces of food getting stuck to your teeth and it will be easier to clean them later and therefore, will prevent tooth decay.

6

Take care of your diet and eat food fresh in calcium and protein, as they're essential elements for your denture.

Make sure you know what are the signs and symptoms of tooth decay so you can detect it on time.

7

Check with your orthodontist and take your son to the dentist from the age of 2 and a half. The dentist will also give you control appointments according to your denture, but it's generally every 6 months. This is the best way to prevent tooth decay.
