Lice are a very common parasites that contaminates the heads of our kids. Lice are insects that take nourishment from our blood and which can multiply very quickly. Because of this it is important to eliminate them as soon as they are detected. Lice causes a strong itching sensation in the area of the head making people scratch hard, which can lead to wounds.

In pharmacies there are many products to tackle lice, however, in oneHOWTO we want to explain how to make lice repellent, a homemade product which is perfect for the fight against these parasites. Take note!

Insect repellent with eucalyptus oil or tea tree oil. The aroma let off by these essential oils is disliked by lice. It can therefore serve as a tool for effectively eliminating them. To achieve this, just pour some drops of these oils in the your shampoo and leave to act for some 30 minutes before the rinsing out the shampoo.

Lice repellent with rosemary or lavender. The aroma of these two plants also serves as a lice repellent and will work to perfection in both avoiding contagion and removing them from head.

To produce this home remedy we need only purchase or make some essential oils of one these plants, whichever you prefer, and add it to our usual shampoo You will have to leave the mix act for some 30 minutes and then clear with warm water.

Lice repellent with apple cider vinegar. It is a solution useful for preventing the spread of lice but, should you already suffer from these, it does not completely eliminate them: it only eliminates the lice eggs. However, given the acidity of this vinegar it is a very effective remedy to avoid having lice.

To do so we need only apply to dry hair a little water mixed (in equal parts) with apple cider vinegar. You need to leave this to act for 2 hours and cover your hair with a towel or shower cap. After the 2 hours you must wash out all remains from the hair. Repeat this process 2 times a month and you will be protected against lice.

It is important that, in addition to these lice repellents you take into account some other factors that will help to prevent the spread of this parasite:

  • Avoid sharing hair brushes with other persons.
  • Wash all clothes in washing machine programmes that exceed 60ºC since lice die at temperatures above 50ºC.
  • Wash your hair frequently and, where possible, incorporate the use of the essential oils we have mentioned: the aroma will be wonderful and you will be protected against lice.
