Currently acute appendicitis is operated on by laparoscopic technique, this means that you will see on your belly three wounds, one of about 4 or 5 staples or stitches on the the lateral right side. Food is important to help heal the appendicitis wounds as soon as possible. During the first days you must eat liquid or semi-liquid foods, it is important that the food goes down well and the patient has no vomiting. The wounds resulting from a laparoscopy should be healed within 7-10 days after the operation, then you can go to your doctor to remove the stitches or staples.
