In Southeast Asia it is very common to use sesame seed oil in cooking and today this vegetable oil has already spread to the cuisine in many other parts of the world. And this is because sesame seeds or sesame make an oil with a distinctive taste that's great for seasoning and flavoring many dishes.

Furthermore, sesame oil, like ghee, also has numerous beneficial properties for our body. So if you are wanting to make your own Sesame Seed Oil at home, OneHowTo will explain in detail how to make sesame seed oil easily at home.

Steps to follow:

For the proper extraction of sesame seed oil, the seeds of this cereal have to be very dry. If the seeds you have are not fully dried, you can speed up the process by toasting them in the oven. If you do toast the sesame seeds, the end result - the oil - will be slightly darker in colour but retain the same flavor and properties.

To toast the sesame seeds correctly, you must spread the sesame seeds on an oven-proof baking tray and place it on the middle shelf of an oven preheated to 180°. Leave them for about 10 minutes, open the oven and stir them with a spoon and put them back in for a few more minutes to make sure they are toasted on all sides.

Once the sesame seeds are toasted, leave the seeds to cool on a plate.

Then you need to put them in a saucepan with a cup of sunflower oil and put it on a low heat for about 2 minutes.

The next step in making sesame seed oil involves putting the mixture in a blender and blending thoroughly, so that you get all the juice out of the seeds. Just as with the first step, you should leave the mixture to stand for about 2 hours after this step.

Finally, strain the sesame seed oil to remove the seed pieces; you can do it using a fine sieve or by filtering through some sterile gauze placed over the mouth of a can or bottle. The result will be sesame oil that you can use for cooking or cosmetic purposes.
