How to eat raw garlic

Garlic is one of the foods that provides the most benefits to our bodies, it being, amongst other things, a powerful antioxidant and a great natural antibiotic. But as with many other ingredients, so that its effects are truly beneficial for our health, garlic should be eaten completely raw. This way, the allicin, which is its main antioxidant, remains intact. That is why we recommend eating lots of it to prevent winter colds, or before going on holiday, to prevent getting sick while travelling. The problem is that many people don't think they can eat it raw. If you are one of them, at OneHowTo.com we'll explain how to eat raw garlic successfully and thus enjoy all the benefits it offers.

Steps to follow:
1

Raw garlic has a somewhat pungent and strong taste that can be very unpleasant for many. Also, depending on how it is eaten, it can leave you with bad breath.

But there are a number of ways to control these factors. The first is to take a clove of garlic, peal it, break it in half, and swallow it with some water - as if it were a tablet - without chewing. In this way, you will spare yourself the flavour and the bad breath that tends to come from chewing it.

2

Another excellent way to eat garlic every day and make the most of its properties is to eat meals that contain this ingredient raw. A good example is taglatelle with prawns, allioli, humus, pesto or a delicious, strong garlicky sauce. These are all very good options for getting your daily dose of raw garlic.

3

You can also add raw garlic to salads. Slice a garlic clove very thinly, or chop it in to small cubes and add it to a tuna or caprese salad, taking advantage of the fact that lactose reduces the intensity of the aftertaste.

4

If you do not have time for recipes and want to go straight to eating your garlic raw, you can dice it or slice it thinly and eat it directly with a little parsley, which, thanks to its chlorophyll content, will help to reduce the strong flavour.

You can consume your raw garlic and, in order to avoid bad breath, drink a glass of milk or yoghurt afterwards, as dairy products significantly reduce garlic breath. Don't forget that after eating raw garlic, you should brush your teeth well, using a toothbrush, dental floss and finishing with some mouthwash.

5

And if you simply cannot, despite these suggestions, bring yourself to eat garlic raw, go to a natural products store and buy garlic capsules, which contain all the properties of garlic without the strong smell and flavour.
