How to Brush Your Teeth With Braces Properly

We would all like to have a dazzling smile, but to keep our smile looking good it is not just enough to keep our teeth white, but they have to be well aligned. Thanks to orthodontics we can correct the position of our teeth, but the braces can be annoying, painful and difficult to maintain and clean at first. But over time you get used to it and maintaining them it is also much easier.

At OneHowTo we show you how to brush your teeth with braces so that you can maintain proper oral hygiene.

Steps to follow:
1

Important: Teeth with braces need to be cleaned after every meal. Bacteria and bits of food build up in orthodontic appliances easily, so it is necessary to completely remove them from there, to avoid oral diseases such as tooth decay, bad breath and halitosis.

2

Rinse several times with warm water mixed with two tablespoons of baking soda, it helps to remove bacteria from your mouth and braces.

3

Using a soft bristle brush and some toothpaste, brush the part between the brace and gums and then the bottom of the brace, always gently and in a circular motion. Repeat with your lower teeth.

4

Brush the brace brackets in a smooth motion going from the top down. (For this, hold the brush vertically). Repeat approximately 10 times for each bracket.

5

Hold the brush horizontally and gently brush the brackets.

6

Brush the inside of all your teeth and upper molars.

7

Use a interdental brush to properly clean the sides of the braces and wires.

8

Don't forget to floss between your teeth and also between the wires. A useful tool that will help you floss is a floss threader as it will make the task much easier. Make sure you use the floss threader in the part between the wires and the gum so no dirt accumulates between teeth.
