Walk: When you walk very quickly, around 7.5 km per hour (4.1 mi/h), you can burn up to 440 calories. If you walk a little slower, at 6 km per hour (3.1 mi/h), this number is reduced to 360 calories. Those who walk more calmly, about 4.8 km per hour (2.1 mi/h), will burn a total of 300 calories. And for those who walk slowly, between 1.5 and 3 km per hour (0.5 and 1.1 m/h), you will burn no less than 130.

We should note that not everyone needs to burn or consume the same amount of calories daily; it depends on age and on the exercise.

You can burn 207 calories per hour by washing your dog. And if you take them for a walk it's 177. This is much less than washing the car, which burns 300 calories.

Going to the supermarket is also great for our body because we burn 200 calories from pushing a cart full of food. If we're pushing a pram, the amount drops to 180.

Domestic chores are also not bad for burning calories: 234 from washing dishes, 230 from hoovering, 231 from ironing, 148 from sewing, 144 from folding laundry and 100 from sweeping.

But that's not all, there are more daily tasks that can help us burn calories that are quite curious:

  • Sleeping: you burn 60 (480 if you do this for 8 hours)
  • Watching TV will burn 50
  • Chewing gum burns 11 calories
  • Kissing, between 3 and 12 calories (depending on the intensity of the kiss)
  • Brushing your teeth for two minutes will burn 5.7 calories
  • Mowing the lawn burns 324 calories (with a non-sitting lawn-mower)
  • Cooking for an hour can make you lose 148 calories.
  • Reading for one hour will burn 60 calories
  • Even driving you burn 124 calories per hour
