Honey and lemon syrup for a cough and sore throat

You'll need: two glasses of lemon juice and honey.

Squeeze the lemons until you get two full cups. Put the juice in a saucepan and add 90 ml of honey and let it cook over low heat for an hour and a half. Now you have syrup! Now you'll have it whenever you need it. You can start to drink 30 ml every hour during the first day of being sick, and on the second day, drink it every three hours. This mixture will soothe your throat and make you feel almost as good as new.

Ginger infusion for coughs and mucus

You'll need: fresh ginger, water, honey and lemon.

Chop 5 ml of fresh ginger. Heat a mug of water in a saucepan or in the microwave until it begins to boil. Add the 5 ml of fresh ginger in the mug with the boiling water and let boil for 10 minutes. You can then add 15 ml of honey and a little bit of squeezed lemon. This is great for decongesting your sinuses.

Drink hot liquids regularly

If you have the flu, the best thing to do is to drink hot liquids. Make a hot soup or infusion and always have a cup of either by your bedside to sip on.

Salt crystals and baking soda for nasal congestion

You'll need: sea salt without iodine and baking soda.

Heat a mug of water until it's lukewarm. Add 1 ml of sea salt without iodine and 1 ml of baking soda. Stir well and put a couple of drops in each nostril. It's a great decongestant!

Onion and cayenne pepper for the chest

You'll need: water, onion and cayenne pepper.

In a saucepan, boil a mug of water with a large slice of onion and 2 ml of cayenne pepper. Once it begins to boil, remove it and put it into a mug. Let it cool a little until it's room temperature. Drink it before going to sleep and it'll clear up the congestion in your chest.

Rest, rest, rest

These remedies are very effective when you have flu symptoms, but you must also get plenty of rest. Take time off work, let someone else do the cooking and cleaning, just spend time in bed and sleep, and you'll recover in a flash! By taking time to yourself, you not only improve your own health, but prevent contaminating others at work, school, etc..
